Who they are

Baruch-Ron was born in Seramle, Ethiopia, in 1974 and came to Israel in Operation Moses in 1984. She earned degrees in psychology and organisational sociology at the University of Haifa. She acted in Michaela and appeared on The Ambassador in 2005. She served on Tel Aviv’s council and as deputy mayor from 2013 to 2018.

Positions and record

Religion & state: Allow civil marriage and divorce and give equal treatment to different Jewish denominations and religions.

Transport: Let local authorities decide how public transport and businesses operate on Saturdays and holidays.

Education: Create a pedagogical council to strengthen liberal content in existing state schools, without establishing another separate school stream.

Military service: Keep the army integrated across religious and cultural identities and ensure equal service obligations and promotion opportunities.

Women’s health: Remove mandatory physical attendance at abortion committees and prevent religious or other pressure on the woman’s or committee’s decision.
