Who they are
Yair Fink founded the lobbying group Lobby 99 and went on to run the Darkenu movement.
He was born in Jerusalem in 1984, the youngest of six children, and went to the Hartman high school, where he was active in the Masuot troop of the religious scouts. He studied afterwards at the Ma’ale Gilboa yeshiva of the religious kibbutz movement and finished his army service as an officer in the Paratroopers Brigade; he still serves in the reserves as a brigade operations officer. He read political science and took a master’s in business administration at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, running the Shachen Tov association as a volunteer and working as spokesman for the Jerusalem councillor Rachel Azaria along the way.
Fink came into national politics as chief of staff to Shelly Yachimovich while she led Labor and the opposition. He then ran the field headquarters of Tag Meir, helped found the Ofek credit union and managed its field operation, and in 2015 set up Lobby 99, which he directed for four years. As chief executive of Darkenu he founded the independent channel DemocratTV, and he sat on the public council of the nonprofit Tzav Piyus. He has been a member of the Histadrut house of representatives since 2017 as head of its social justice faction, and heads its social justice division.
Positions and record
Religion & state: Fink supports separating religion from the state and ending religious coercion.
Coalition: In July 2026 Fink supported cooperation with Mansour Abbas, describing Jewish-Arab partnership as necessary for advancing equal service, core studies and the rule of law.
Service: Fink wants draft obligations enforced equally. In July 2026 he asked the High Court to strike down legislation shielding Haredi men who failed to report for military service from arrest.
Transport: In October 2022 Fink backed public transport on Shabbat while preserving its character as a shared day of rest.
