Who they are

Lasky was born in Mexico in 1967 and moved to Israel at 15, attending a Youth Aliyah boarding school. She worked as Dedi Zucker’s parliamentary aide in 1992. She founded Gaby Lasky & Partners, handling protest cases, and served as Peace Now’s secretary-general. She sat on Tel Aviv’s council from 2013 to 2018 and in the Knesset with Meretz from 2021 to 2022.

Positions and record

Judiciary: In a January 2019 article, Lasky opposed letting ministers appoint legal advisers without tenders and parliamentary overrides of High Court decisions protecting basic rights.

Occupation: In a February 2019 interview, Lasky called for ending the occupation and linked Palestinian rights with civil and gender equality.

Civil liberties: At an October 2021 hearing, Lasky backed labour and environmental protests outside company owners’ homes, with relocation reserved for exceptional cases.

Government: In June 2022 Lasky proposed barring someone facing criminal charges from forming a government.
