Who they are
Etzion was born in 1966 and grew up in Rehovot. He served in Shaldag and studied philosophy and East Asian studies at the Hebrew University. He joined the Foreign Ministry in 1992, assisted its director general from 1994 to 1996 and became vice consul in San Francisco. He was deputy head of the National Security Council from 2005 to 2008 and led Foreign Ministry policy planning from 2008 to 2014.
Positions and record
Regional diplomacy: Convene a Riyadh peace conference to address the Israeli-Palestinian and Israeli-Arab conflicts, including cooperation on water, renewable energy and desalination.
Climate: Strengthen the Environment Ministry and commission a multi-year climate-risk assessment with the National Security Council, security bodies and outside experts.
Democracy: Adopt a constitution protecting equal political rights for all citizens, separation of powers and a strong Supreme Court.
