Who they are

Adi Altshuler founded Krembo Wings, the first Israeli youth movement for children with and without disabilities, when she was sixteen.

She was born in Hod Hasharon in 1986 to Erez and Dorit Altshuler and went to the Hadarim high school in the town. In 2002 she joined LEAD, a youth leadership programme, and, drawing on her friendship with a boy with a severe disability and his family, set the movement up. She led it as chief executive and chair until 2009, then served as its president until she stepped down five years later.

Alongside it she started Zikaron BaSalon in 2010, a Holocaust remembrance project that began with a single evening in her own living room, and she spent four years from 2013 running Google for Education in Israel. In 2017 she founded Inclu, an association promoting inclusive education in state schools and institutions, and has been its chief executive since; the education ministry opened four inclusive schools under the approach in September 2018, in the Golan Heights, Hadera, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Time named her one of six next generation leaders in 2014 and she spoke at the United Nations that year on social entrepreneurship as an engine of growth in developing countries. She lit a torch at the 72nd Independence Day ceremony in 2020, received the President’s Medal in 2023 and was awarded the Israel Prize for young leadership in 2026.
