How we stop repeat ballots

There is no account and no email. When you vote, this browser keeps a cookie that says it has.

We also keep two scrambled codes. One is made from your internet connection. The other is made from basic settings on your device, such as its screen size, language and browser version. They are one-way codes, so neither can be turned back into your address or your device.

A device that has voted cannot vote again on the same connection for 12 hours, and one connection can send at most 25 ballots. The codes are deleted when results go up.

The site's analytics records that a ballot went in, never which list it was for.

Anonymous. One ballot per person, final once submitted. Closes Wednesday 30 September at 18:00.
