Who they are

Bachar was born in Rehovot on 9 April 1964 and grew up on Kibbutz Be'eri, where he still lives. He enlisted in 1983, volunteered for the Paratroopers and read history at Tel Aviv University. He commanded Maglan, the Paratroopers Brigade and the Gaza Division, retiring a major general. On 7 October 2023 he fought Hamas gunmen inside Be'eri for hours, and has since been reserve deputy commander of Southern Command.
