Who they are
Born in Bnei Brak on 6 April 1963 to an Alexander hasidic family, he studied at the Ponevezh yeshiva and received rabbinical ordination, then worked at the daily Yated Ne'eman and as an aide to MK Avraham Ravitz. He was appointed mayor of Modi'in Illit in November 2000 and has been re-elected since 2013 with over 80 per cent of the vote each time.
