Her own claim, made repeatedly during the Likud primary fight: "I must be Justice Minister, period."

Who they are

Tally Gotliv is a criminal defence lawyer who reached the Knesset on the Likud list and moved to Otzma Yehudit in September 2026. She was born Revital Gotliv in Bnei Brak in 1975 to Shimon and Ruth Raz, in a religious-Zionist home, and has gone by Tally. She was an artillery instructor in the army and took both her first degree and her master’s in law at Bar-Ilan University, then did her articles in the criminal division of the State Attorney’s Office in Tel Aviv.

She has practised from an office in Bnei Brak since 2000, chiefly defending men accused of sex offences and rape. She applied for a judicial appointment in 2012 and was turned down on the ground of judicial temperament. Three years later she stood against Efi Naveh for the chair of the Israel Bar Association, the first woman to run for the post, and finished last with 4.8 per cent. She was a panellist on a Channel 13 Friday night programme until 2022, the year Netanyahu cleared her to stand in the Likud primary although she had not completed the party’s qualifying period.

She was indicted in May 2026 for disclosing confidential information, after she named the partner of Shikma Bresler, a Shin Bet employee. The Knesset granted her immunity from prosecution that June, and the man she named has petitioned the High Court to overturn it.
