Who they are

Michael Topchiashvili heads Bitachon Ishi, a list he assembled in 2026 to run on crime and punishment. By his own account he was a journalist writing in Georgian, trained as a pilot though he is not an active one, and spent many years in politics, including work at the Knesset. He describes himself as close to the world of Torah study, and he is the father of a combat soldier.

He stood for the Knesset on the Shas slate in 2003, 95th of its names, and in February 2020 appeared with Yaakov Ben Yissachar in a WeAct video about what it called the establishment's injustices to divorced fathers, disabled and elderly people. He returned to public life in 2026 after a long absence. He says he planned a campaign of only two weeks, staying out of view until about two weeks before polling day and then putting a plan for personal security to the voters.
