Resigned as Ben-Gvir's chief of staff in July 2026 to run for a Knesset slot, and has not named a job he wants. Ben-Gvir says he may hand the National Security Ministry to someone from the ministry, but has never named Dorfman.

Who they are

Chanamel Dorfman ran the front office of the National Security Ministry under Itamar Ben-Gvir and resigned in 2026 to seek a Knesset seat. He was a hilltop youth activist in the West Bank, and Ben-Gvir represented him in court when he was a teenager. From 2022 he headed the minister’s bureau, where he handled the ministry’s dealings with the police, until he stepped down in July 2026 to stand for the Knesset. His schooling and any work outside that office are not documented in any public source.

Police Internal Investigations questioned him under caution for eleven hours in February 2025, as part of the inquiry into Ben-Gvir’s associates. He was released without restrictions and no charges have been filed.

Positions and record

Police: Deep reform of a force he has accused of institutional bias.

Enforcement: Ben-Gvir's hardline agenda, from the staff room to the floor.

Governance: Ministerial authority over law enforcement.

Machash investigation: Police Internal Investigations questioned him under caution for 11 hours in February 2025 over suspicions that he sought police and Shin Bet information and tried to influence nationalist-crime cases. He was released without restrictions, he says he advanced no weapons-licence requests, and no charges have been filed.
