Who they are
Asher Fradi is an adviser to the mayor of Petah Tikva and founded the IDF’s first section for integrating haredi soldiers. He grew up in a haredi home in Bnei Brak, studied at the Siach Yitzhak and Mir yeshivas, and worked as a parliamentary adviser before enlisting in 2007.
At Central Command he set up and ran the haredi section, and for more than a decade worked on the tracks haredim serve in, existing and new. He helped establish the Hasmonean Brigade and shape the General Staff orders for haredi soldiers, negotiated their conditions of service with the IDF and the defence ministry, and pressed for spiritual support for soldiers and for haredi hesder yeshivas.
In 2013 he was among the founders of Beit Abba, a community of working haredim in Petah Tikva, and went on to help build its schools, starting with the city’s state-haredi kindergartens, which now number in the dozens. With Mayor Rami Greenberg’s backing he helped open the Bereishit girls’ school and Talmud Torah in 2021 and 2022, and worked toward a haredi girls’ high school with the full matriculation. He holds a law degree and owns a consultancy.
