Who they are
Aharon Ungar is an entrepreneur and rabbi in Ramat Beit Shemesh who kept the Pninei Chein high school open when it faced closure. He graduated from Yeshiva University, took an MBA in marketing at New York University’s Stern School of Business, and received rabbinic ordination through Pirchei Shoshanim.
In 1994 he founded Diabetic.com in South Florida, an online and mail-order supplier of diabetic goods licensed by Medicare, and ran it until 2003. In Ramat Beit Shemesh he co-founded the Keren Lev Yisrael interest-free loan fund in 2004 and chaired Slikk.com, a search platform based in the town. He later founded Dietgirl, an online weight-management programme, in Miami, and Galilee Organics, which made skincare products in Israel for the American market until the pandemic closed it in 2021.
He was Project Inspire’s volunteer coordinator in South Florida in 2010 and 2011, and has written two books on outreach. From 2013 to 2018 he was administrative principal of Pninei Chein, working with the parents’ advisory board to keep the school open; its enrolment rose from 100 to 150.
