Mor has named no portfolio. He told Channel 14 in May 2026 that his fight over hostage policy must continue where the decisions are made, a case for a seat, not a ministry.
Who they are
Tzvika Mor is an educational counsellor who founded the Tikva Forum of hostage families after his eldest son was taken to Gaza. He was born and grew up in Bnei Brak in 1976, studied at the yeshiva high school in Nehalim and at the hesder yeshivot of Kiryat Shmona and Shavei Hevron, and served in the Paratroopers under the hesder arrangement. He still serves in the reserves with Paratroopers Brigade 55, including active duty during the Swords of Iron war.
Mor taught for several years at the yeshiva high school and girls’ ulpana in Kiryat Arba, and spent a year as an educator at the Horev yeshiva high school in Jerusalem before writing an education column for Channel 7. Alongside his first degree in education he qualified as a senior coach and took a master’s in educational management at Herzog College. His doctorate, completed by correspondence with the University of Cordoba in Spain through an Israeli degree broker, examined the effect of cognitive-behavioural coaching on self-regulation in adolescents with ADHD.
His eldest son Eitan was working as a security guard at the Nova festival when he was taken to Gaza on 7 October 2023. After falling out with the main hostage families’ headquarters, Mor set up the Tikva Forum with several other families and, as its chairman, gave hundreds of interviews in Israel and abroad. Eitan was released after two years in captivity.
Positions and record
Hostage deals: Opposed exchanges releasing large numbers of Palestinian prisoners, saying Israel must not repeat the 2011 Shalit deal.
Gaza war: Demanded sustained military pressure on Hamas and opposed withdrawal from strategic corridors.
Hostage families movement: Broke from the main Hostages and Missing Families Forum, calling its Kaplan Street tent politically motivated.
