Who they are

Mar'i was born in Hurfeish on 15 May 1959 and was the first Druze to enlist through the Nahal programme. He served in Sayeret Shaked, took a degree in Middle Eastern studies at Haifa University in 1992, and commanded the Herev Battalion from 1996 to 1998 and later the Hermon and Oded brigades, leaving as a colonel. He became head of Hurfeish council in 2016 and sat in the Knesset for Blue and White from 2021 to 2022.

Positions and record

Druze equality: Calls for equal treatment of Druze citizens in planning, development and economic opportunity, including industrial zones for Druze towns.

Northern security: Supports continued Israeli pressure against Hezbollah to protect northern communities. Calls on Lebanon’s government to act against the organisation.

Syria’s Druze: In July 2025, proposed targeted air strikes to protect Jabal al-Druze and cooperation with Jordan to establish humanitarian crossings and deliver aid.
