Feiglin set the premiership as Zehut's target in January 2024, but nothing in the current campaign repeats it and by June 2026 he was reported open to alliances with other right-wing lists. What he says now is that Zehut will demand the Defence Ministry inside a right-wing coalition, which is the party's claim rather than his own.
Who they are
Moshe Feiglin leads Zehut, the party he founded, wound down and revived, after years inside Likud running for its leadership. He was born in Haifa in 1962 to Yaakov Zvi and Esther, who had come from Australia, and went to the Or Etzion yeshiva high school. He served as an officer in the chemical defence array of the combat engineering corps, then set up Israel’s first cliff-abseiling company and worked as a crane operator.
Feiglin campaigned against the Oslo Accords, founding Zo Artzeinu with Rabbi Benny Elon and Shmuel Sackett and blocking roads. He was convicted of illegal assembly in 1995, and two years later was convicted of sedition and sentenced to eighteen months, six of them to be served, which he did in community service. He then founded Manhigut Yehudit, registered it as a faction inside Likud in 2000, and stood three times against Benjamin Netanyahu for the leadership, taking 23.2 per cent at his strongest attempt.
He sat for a single term in the Knesset and left the party after the 2014 primary to found Zehut, which fell short of the electoral threshold in 2019 with 2.73 per cent. He then withdrew from the following race under an agreement with Netanyahu and rejoined Likud. He cancelled that membership in 2023, and in 2026 announced a joint technical list with Bezalel Smotrich’s Religious Zionism.
Positions and record
The Temple Mount: Wants Israeli control, Jewish prayer at all hours and a synagogue on the Mount, and has said he wants the Temple built now.
Economy: Flat tax, ministries cut from twenty-nine to eleven, school vouchers, and the welfare state wound down.
Conscription: Chairs a lobby for a professional army and would abolish the draft rather than argue about who is exempt from it.
