Israel Hayom listed Shefa as an education-minister contender on 11 July 2026. Four days earlier, he presented himself and party colleagues as alternatives for the education or agriculture portfolios. Those statements do not single out an exclusive personal target.

Who they are

Shefa was born in Givat Haim Ihud on 15 February 1985. He served in combat support in Shaldag from 2004 to 2007, then farmed in Ein Yahav and worked for Aharai. He earned an education degree at Kibbutzim College in 2015 and became national student union chair in 2016. He entered the Knesset with Blue and White in 2019, chaired its Education Committee in 2020 and moved to Labour in 2021.

Positions and record

Education: Require core studies for all pupils, strengthen teachers’ status and teach democratic values, peace and security.

Transport: Let local authorities decide where Shabbat buses run, providing public transport in willing communities without imposing it on religious neighbourhoods.

Agriculture: Retain support for domestic farming and reject unilateral tariff cuts without an agreed package protecting farmers; support egg-production planning and differentiated aid.

Youth services: Increase permanent funding for youth movements, youth organisations, service-year programmes and pre-army academies.
