Who they are

Born in Tel Aviv in 1953, Goldschmidt is a lawyer who sat three Knesset terms for Labor from 1992, chairing the House, Economics and Finance committees and heading the faction. He resigned in February 2001 saying he had despaired of politics, and spent the 25 years since presenting a morning show on Channel 2, running communications and regulation at the Israel Corporation and practising law. He lives in Sderot.

Positions and record

Oslo and the disengagement: He voted for both and now calls them mistakes. The moment Israel left Gaza, he says, they started digging tunnels.

Sovereignty: He wants Israel sovereign over everything west of the Jordan and the Green Line erased. Hanita and Ofra, he says, are one and the same.

The Arabs of Judea and Samaria: Jordanian citizenship, Jordanian passports and seats in the parliament in Amman, all of it under Israeli sovereignty.

Labor: He says the party he sat for is dead, and that what carries the name today is not the same thing.
