Who they are
Bakr Awawdeh led the Galilee Society, an Arab public-health and research organisation, for ten years.
He is from Kafr Kanna and worked as an organisational and strategic consultant before taking over the society in 2009. He left the directorship in 2019. He is an activist in Balad.
Positions and record
Crime and violence: In June 2026, proposed stronger community organisations to confront violence and crime and defend Arab citizens’ rights and identity.
Community organisation: In June 2026, proposed local and national unions for health workers, teachers, technology workers, students, drivers and business owners.
Public health: In an interview published in May 2023, called for a comprehensive health programme with measurable targets, involving local councils, civic organisations and Arab professionals.
Jewish-Arab cooperation: In an interview published in May 2023, backed joint scientific and environmental work to improve health and economic development for all Galilee residents.
